Friday, May 20 at 5.30 pm, will take place the inauguration of the last section of the new sea promenade of Framura.
In the last years the village of Framura, featuring a small, beautiful cove with the most crystalline water, carefully worked to the creation of a pleasant path to walk along the sea, from the area of Torsei next to the railway station all the way to the beach called La Vallà. The total path lenght is of about 800 hundred meters, in the shade of maritime pines and surrounded by aloe plants and the smell of the mediterranean maquis.
This path joins the bike trail from Levanto to Bonassola to create a sort of extension of the Cinque Terre charm and give more chances to enjoy a beautiful stretch of the Ligurian coast on bike and foot.
Coming from La Spezia, Framura is located after the Cinque Terre and the town of Levanto and Bonassola. Together with these two and Moneglia, Framura is maybe less popular among tourists, but very appreciated for the typical ligurian atmosphere and the beautiful beaches. It can be reached sitting in the very same railway trains from La Spezia through the Cinque Terre, enjoying the beautiful view offered by the journey.
During the WWII, the Framura’s railway section was the location of two American 15-men missions called Operations Ginny I and II, which attempted to blow up a railway tunnel between Framura and Bonassola. Both missions failed but the second mission’s soldiers were executed and buried in a mass grave by the German Army.
