Interesting for our city the recent survey by Italia oggi and La Sapienza University in Rome on the Quality of Life in 110 Italian provinces in 2016.
La Spezia jumped from 70th position in 2015 to the gratifying result of 32nd of this year. A significant increase exceeded only by Lucca passing from 102nd to 50th place while positioning itself well below of La Spezia. The usual grumblers claim that the jump is only due to the fact that last year the City Council had contributed wrong data to the statistics. But at “Cinque Terre & Beyond” we think it is not true and that the city and the province quality of life is actually better!
But let’s see the various parameters that have led La Spezia to be better in quality of life compared to cities like Rimini, Pisa, Bologna, Milan, Turin and many others including the capital Rome relegated to 88th place compared to 69th last year.
As for “Business and Work” we are in 41st place (compared with 60th last year). For the “Environment” quality we remained in 57th place but improving. The “crime” parameter we are better off than what normally perceived, being in 40th place against
the 81st of only a year ago. (Among other things here on the sub-class “culpable and unintentional homicide ” we are the No. 1 spot in the rankings and therefore the most “virtuous” of all!).
But where we’re definitely better than many other provinces it is the industry ‘leisure and tourism’, where we are placed 11th. Thanks also to sub-parameters such an abundance of accommodation facilities, restaurants, bookstores, and especially bars and cafes per 100,000 inhabitants. In the latter item we are second on 110 provinces, confirming that the La Spezia inhabitants are either drunkards or have realized that the widespread receptivity pays! We lean to the latter.
We at “Cinque Terre & Beyond” can only welcome this excellent positioning of La Spezia due mainly to the tourism sector: the one where we are active making timely information and promoting the many and exceptional attractions of our territory
