From July 5th to July 15th, in La Spezia returns the 49th edition of the Jazz Festival: in Portovenere and Lerici and in the center of the city, live performances of cinematic and musical events.
Among the names of this year’s exhibition are Enrico Rava, Roy Paci, Remo Anzowin, Branford Marsalis, Kurt Elling.
It is the film dedicated to Enrico Rava “Necessary Notes” to open the dances of the Jazz Festival on July 5th. The musician, July 6, will join the Finnish trumpets Quintet of Tomasz Stanko in Piazza del Bastione in La Spezia.
The Festival continues on July 9 in Lerici with Battista Lena, Ares Tavolazzi and Walter Paoli, while on July 11 at Doria Castle in Porto Venere, Rosario Giuliani and Luciano Biondini will play the music of Morricone and Rota in the marine scenery of Portovenere.
On July 14, Roy Paci and Remo Anzovino will animate the evening of Piazza del Bastione with the music of “Fight for Freedom – Tribute to Muhammad Ali”, a soundtrack album for the “From Clay to Ali, Metamorphosis”, docufilm filmed by Emanuela Audisio in occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of the champion.
Branford MarsalisQuartet with Kurt Elling close this year’s Festival in Piazza del Bastione. Saxophonist Branford Marsalis is accompanied by Joey Calderazzo at the piano, Eric Revis on double bass and Justin Faulkner on drums, and for the occasion Kurt Elling partecipates as vocalist. On July 13th to the 18th, the De-Terminal Club will be inaugurated on the Revel quay, a new lmusic club, with the first jam session of the Festival with the Greek / Nigerian Technoir duo made up of Alexandros (guitars, laptops) and Jennifer (voice, effects). Next jam sessions will take place on July 14 and 15, starting at 23 o’clock.
The film will be closed on July 13, the film “Lift for the Patibolo” 1957 noir movie (Pinetina Cinema Nuovo- La Spezia). Movie start at 21:30, free admission.
